Step-By-Step Beginner Course
When you start with Team Silva you will begin with a FREE PRIVATE LESSON where we work one on one with and go over the core basics.Our Step-by-Step beginner courses are carefully structured and taught in a manner so that someone who is new to the art and/ or is totally out of shape can easily understand with out feeling overwhelmed or confused. The class will be with other beginners so the student will not feel out of place. In the introductory course you will focus on the basics on the basics of the program you chose. For example in the BJJ program you will work on the basic self defense, offense submission and conditioning. This is how we have produced champion after champion and this method is how you will excel at this art!

Fresh Meat For the Sharks!
Most academies in the bay area view new students as fresh meat for the shark tank. Often academies will view new students has a good opportunity to have their guys beat up on them or “smash” them. Other have the attitude “how dare you try to come to my academy and try to challenge me!” often this is generally promoted in far to many of Jiu Jitsu and MMA Academies.

Safety First
It’s a common misconception that to learn how to be a MMA or Jiu Jitsu fighter you have to go through wild and crazy no holds barred sparing matches or be able to tap everyone out in the first day. This is TOTALLY FALSE! At Team Silva most of our students have jobs and families and cant afford to go home with black eyes, broken noses and busted teeth! For this reason your first sparing session will take place after you graduate from the beginner program. Once you have graduated you will begin sparing with the instructor and/or our advanced students so to insure you feel safe and comfortable. The grappling and sparing is conducted under the utmost supervision to insure safety. don’t get us wrong we do have hard sparing sessions however they are reserved for our professional and armature fighters.

Brawl for it all
Most of the academies in the bay area will throw you in with the regular class on your very first day! Imagine this.. How can a teacher teach people who have been training for 3-4 years and teach someone who is just starting out on there first day? That’s like trying to teach calculus and algebra in the same room at the same time! This process takes away from the whole program.

Weapons Training
Every month We conduct a weapons safety and self defense seminar. Sergio has taught these techniques to some of the worlds most ELITEspecial forces. Like the United States Army Rangers Special forces Unit. The T.I.G.E.R Brazilian Special Forces The Bay Area Rapid Transit (B.A.R.T) Police and the Alameda County Narcotics Task Force just to name a few and as a member you will be invited to attend as well! If it works for Uncle Sam Imagine what it will do for you!

No weapons
Most academies do not have any one who has instructed top military forces or have any experience in weapons defense training. Most academies have little to no weapons defense courses. Let take a moment to look the reality of this world we live in. Bad guys carry guns and knives!! If you have never learned how to defend your self against these and have only practiced how to fight in the cage or on the mat with structured rules then You are in for a very Rude Awakening!

Most Mixed Martial Arts or BJJ school have no idea what customer service means! When I was just starting out I would walk into to academies was met with cold stairs from the staff, mean looks from the students. As a beginner It was kind of Terrifying! Then maybe after 10-20 minutes of sitting there some one would walk up an say “can I help you?” like you weren’t supposed to be there or something.
