What is Brazilian Jiu Jitsu?

 

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) is a martial art that uses grappling techniques, which enables practitioners to subdue their opponents without the use of kicks or punches. This eliminates the need to use excessive force in real life self defense situations.Brazilian Jiu Jitsu emphasizes the use of leverage and technique over strength and power. The effectiveness of BJJ has been demonstrated in real life situations, military, special forces training, and in Mix Martial Arts competitions such as the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC)

BJJ  teaches how a smaller weaker person can successfuly defend themselves against a bigger and stronger threat by useing proper technique and leverage to apply joint-locks, choke-holds and to how to control an opponent or attacker . BJJtraining can be used for sporting grappling tournaments also. Brazilian Jiu-Jistuis known as more than just fighting, it is not solely a martial art it is a sport, a way of promoting physical fitness and building charater in young people, and it is ultimately a way of life.
