1. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu
What is Brazilian Jiu Jitsu?
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) is a martial art that uses effective grappling techniques which enables practitioners to subdue their opponents without the use of kicks or punches. This eliminates the need to use excessive force in real life self defense situations. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu emphasizes the use of leverage and technique, over strength and power. The effectiveness of BJJ has been demonstrated in real life situations such as in the military, special forces training, and in Mix Martial Arts competitions such as the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC)
BJJ teaches how a smaller weaker person can successfully defend themselves against a bigger and stronger threat by using proper technique and leverage to apply joint-locks, choke-holds that help control an opponent or attacker. BrazilianĀ Jiu-Jistu is known as more than just fighting. It is not solely a martial art; it is a sport, a way of promoting physical fitness and character in young people; it isĀ ultimately a healthy way of life.
